Political Journey

Chief Ugochukwu Okeke (Enyioha) ventured into partisan politics in 1999 upon the return of our dear country to civilian rule. He joined the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and became a very active member. He worked tirelessly and diligently for the victories of the PDP candidates in both the Anambra gubernatorial and the Presidential elections of that year. To the glory of God, PDP emerged winners in both elections. Since then, he has always given his best to ensure victories for PDP candidates in all elections. Having been close to the system and observed with disdain, the mismanagement of our common wealth and the maladministration going on in the government, in 2013, he aspired to govern Anambra State under the platform of PDP. That was his first attempt at seeking an elective post. However, he lost in the primaries, which then, was reputed not to be free and fair. Despite this perceived injustice, he still threw his weight and support behind the then PDP flagbearer and urged all his supporters and followers to do same to ensure victory for PDP in the gubernatorial election. Unfortunately, PDP lost. His aspiration and urge to govern Anambra state has grown stronger with each passing day having identified the gaps in the system. Since he ventured into politics and joined PDP, he has never wavered nor left the party, being one of the very few principled people still left in the political space of our dear nation with strong ideological beliefs. He has consistently devoted his time and resources to seeing to the growth, advancement and progress of the PDP both in Anambra State and in the nation at large. In recognition of his unflinching support and contribution to the growth of PDP, the party nominated him as a ministerial nominee in 2014 under President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan even though the appointment did not come through. He has also served the party under various capacities
